Mind The Gap Gun!

A man blasted with a shotgun staggered on to an Underground train to escape a gunman and managed to travel one stop before collapsing on a platform in front of horrified passengers.
Why are the British Transport Police investigating this, according to the report, and not the Met?

Are we by chance talking about a group beginning with n and ending in iggers?

I think all crime on the railways and underground is the remit of the transport police.

The same as any oil rig crimes around the coast are investigated by Grampian police

Because it both happened and the crime "discovered" within BTP jurasdiction.

And any way, the BTP are just as capable of investigating as any other H.O force in the country.

Given the Met's flair and inclination, they were probably the shooters.

@MTG - Is this the original Melvin - or has someone inherited his trolling business?

"Given the Met's flair and inclination, they were probably the shooters."

Even with the current cutbacks, I don't think they have been issued with blunderbus.

No more than you are Mr Plod, the joint debtor responsible for a failed business.

Indeed, but I didn't think the BTP were capable of handling this sort of thing.

"And any way, the BTP are just as capable of investigating as any other H.O force in the country."

Really? I thought it wasn't very well regarded by 'real' police?

BTP's jurisdiction extends to the whole railway and underground system, and IIRC a one-mile radius round all stations.

They ARE "real" police. A Home Office force.

We are not talking Mersey tunnel, or docks and harbour securi.... ahh sorry, they call themselves "police". (But WE know different, don't we.....?)

They may share facilitys (Forensics, etc) with the local county force, but the investigation belongs to them.

It would appear that this is the "real" Melvin .. who at the mere mention of the word "Police" launches into his now world-famous Pavlovian dog-slobbering act ..

Someone really ought to be ensuring that he takes his medication regularly ..

Poor chap is harmless & ineffectual .. and is more to be pitied, than laughed at ..

Good Morning, Captain.

As Furor T says, the BTP are proper cops. They just have a different jurisdiction. Yes, okay, it's true that to a lot of normal people said jurisdiction often seems to consist mostly of crime ridden filthy graffiti plagued nightmare vistas populated by out of control feral hell spawned mutations and the occasional trainspotters, and that there's little evidence that the police are there to do much than harass the innocent traveler for conspiracy to commit photography. So like just like any other police force in other words :-D

You might say that. I couldn't possibly comment... ;)

I blame global warming.

Higher temperatures have bad effects on the troll brain.
